ABOUT ME

Fun fact: I didn’t start out in accounting—I was actually a journalism major in college. Numbers weren’t “my thing” at first, but I learned accounting from the ground up and ended up falling in love with it. There’s something about the balance, order, and problem-solving that just clicks for me. And yes, I’m one of those weird people who enjoys preparing tax returns and cleaning up messy books.

I started my career in 2008 at a small firm in The Dalles, Oregon, where I thought my big dream was becoming a partner with the corner office. Spoiler alert: that wasn’t for me. By 2013, I struck out on my own, and while being a business owner isn’t all rainbows and unicorns, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I get to do meaningful work for clients I genuinely enjoy working with—that’s the good stuff.

At the heart of it, I’m here to help you feel confident about your numbers. A lot of people come to me with backlogged books or unfiled returns, and within a year, they’re caught up and actually comfortable talking about their finances. That transformation is why I love what I do.

VIRTUAL FIRM

My practice is officially Uplevel Your Accounting LLC, and it’s 100% virtual. That means no physical office and very few in-person meetings. Honestly, it works better for everyone—no traffic, no parking headaches, and you can upload docs whenever it fits your schedule.

Running a virtual firm also means I get to build my days in a way that works for my household. Some days I’m glued to my desk powering through client work, and other days I’m taking long walks with my dogs and sprinkling in a few calls.

Also… soft pants every day. Highly recommend.

I intentionally run a high-touch, low-volume firm. That means I don’t try to work with as many clients as possible; I’d rather give each person personalized attention, quick responses, and an actual relationship instead of making you feel like a number.

OFFICE HOURS

You can usually reach me by email Monday through Thursday, 9am–4pm PST. I don’t work on Fridays (that’s dog training day 🐾). I aim to respond to emails within 24–48 hours, except for vacations, holidays, or sick days. If you prefer a call or video meeting, that’s always an option too.

PAPERLESS OFFICE

Please don’t send me your box of crumpled receipts 😂. Every client gets a personalized checklist of the documents I need, so you’ll always know exactly what to provide.

Everything needs to be uploaded as PDFs. If you don’t have a scanner, no worries—Adobe Scan is free and turns your phone into a scanner. On a computer, you can use Microsoft to PDF or CutePDF Writer.

For security, I use Dropbox. It’s secure, doesn’t require you to remember yet another password, and keeps your sensitive info out of harm’s way. I take keeping your information private very seriously.

Bonus: with a paperless office, your private documents won’t be sitting out in case of a break-in.

FLAT RATE PRICING

Nobody likes surprise bills (least of all me). That’s why I charge flat rates for tax returns and accounting—no random invoices based on six-minute time blocks. My website lists starting prices for all services, and if your project will be more, you’ll know upfront before I start.
